Beet Burger

After leaving meat-adoring-Brooklyn for fresh-vegetables-Pasadena, I have been finding myself cooking with more vegetables since I savor my Sundays with visits to the farmers market.  So with a package of slider buns and a bag of beets begging to be used, I researched online for beet burger recipes and stumbled upon this infamous Northstar Cafe veggie burger. I have never patroned the place myself so I have no idea how this beet burger compares to the original but I did tweak the recipe to accommodate items I already had and it was one might tasty veggie burger that I could easily cook again. And not requiring it to be on Earth day.

30 Minute Scones

Finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, perfect steeped tea, and I’m in glee.

Who can refuse a delicious anytime tea? These scones are quick to make using a food processor, and simply marvelous to devour with a spot of tea.

Kale Carbonara

I do not know what has come over me but I can’t get enough kale. So you may see a few more kale posts from here on out…

But trying to come up with quick and easy meals, I thought why not combine one loved item and one not so admired (not a big pasta fan) one to balance it out.  And shazam! I now seek reasons to make this dish because I seriously can eat bowls of this. It’s a plus that I usually have the main items stocked in my kitchen. I recommend using lacinato/dinosaur kale because it is sweeter than the curly variety. The anchovies adds a great punch to the salad, kinda like a healthier version of what bacon does for carbonara, but optional.
